Camera Access Denied - How to Fix

Updated: April 2026

What Causes This Error

When you see "Camera access denied" or "Camera access is blocked," it means your browser has been prevented from reaching the webcam hardware. Several things can trigger this:

  • You previously selected "Block" or "Deny" on the browser's camera permission prompt
  • Camera permissions are turned off at the operating system level
  • Security software (antivirus, firewall, or parental controls) is intercepting webcam requests
  • A different program currently holds exclusive access to the camera device

Quick Fix

  1. Click the lock/camera icon in your browser's address bar (next to the URL)
  2. Find "Camera" in the permissions list
  3. Change it to "Allow"
  4. Reload the page
