Microphone Access Denied - How to Fix

Updated: April 2026

What Causes the Permission Block

A "Microphone access denied" or "Microphone access is blocked" message means your browser requested the mic but was refused at the system or site level. The most common reasons:

  • You clicked "Block" when the browser asked for microphone permission
  • Your browser or system settings have microphone access disabled
  • An antivirus or security software is blocking microphone access

Quick Fix

  1. Click the lock icon in your browser's address bar
  2. Find "Microphone" in the permissions list
  3. Change it to "Allow"
  4. Reload the page
